Lead Capture Forms
Agent One allows you to collect structured data from your users through customizable Lead Capture Forms. Unlike the simple Email Collection tool, Lead Capture Forms allow you to gather multiple fields of information (like names, phone numbers, or custom text) either before the conversation starts or upon request.
Enabling Lead Capture
To set up a lead capture form:
- Navigate to your Agent Dashboard.
- Click on the Leads tab in the sidebar.
- Click the Configure Form button in the top right corner.
- Toggle the Enable Lead Capture Form switch to ON.
Configuration Options
General Settings
- Form Title: The header text displayed on the form (e.g., "Contact Us", "Get a Quote").
- Description: A brief explanation telling users why they should fill out the form.
- Trigger: Determines when the form appears.
- On Open (Blocking): The form appears immediately when the user opens the chat widget. Users must fill it out to proceed to the chat. This is ideal for gating your agent or ensuring you capture contact info for every user.
- Manual (Agent Request): The form is only shown when the agent (or you) triggers it during the conversation. (Note: Currently this functions as a non-blocking request that can be linked to specific agent behaviors).
Form Fields
You can build your form using a drag-and-drop interface.
- Add Field: Click the "+ Add Field" button to insert a new question.
- Field Configuration:
- Label: The question or prompt (e.g., "Phone Number").
- Type: Choose from Text, Email, Phone, Number, or Textarea.
- Required: Check this box if the user must answer this field to submit the form.
- Placeholder: Optional text that appears in the input box to guide the user (e.g., "+1 555-0199").
- Reorder: Click and drag the handle (six dots icon) on the left of any field to change its order.
- Remove: Click the trash icon to delete a field.
Once you are satisfied with your form, click Save Changes.
Viewing Collected Leads
To view the data submitted by your users:
- Go to the Leads tab in your Agent Dashboard.
- You will see a table listing all submissions.
- The table displays:
- Date: When the form was submitted.
- Details: The data collected for each field (e.g., Name: John Doe, Email: john@example.com).
- URL: The specific page on your website where the form was submitted.
Lead Capture vs. Email Collection Tool
Agent One offers two ways to collect user info. Choose the one that fits your needs:
- Email Collection Tool (under Tools): Simple, built-in mechanism to just ask for an email address at the start or end of a chat. Great for low-friction newsletter signups.
- Lead Capture Form: A fully customizable form with multiple fields. Best for qualifying leads, support tickets, or when you need more context (like "Company Name" or "Issue Description") before chatting.
Note: If you enable the "On Open" trigger for Lead Capture, consider disabling the "Email Collection" tool to avoid asking for the email twice.
